Interfaithful

The Interfaith Connection is a group composed of people of many faiths who meet regularly in White Plains, Westchester County, New York. Through dialogue, study groups, educational programs, musical events and shared holiday celebrations, we learn about each other’s religious beliefs, spiritual practices, and cultural traditions. We also share our differences and challenge ourselves to listen respectfully to one another.

Kol Ami’s Interfaithful has expanded since, in 2004, we initiated our special relationship with Memorial United Methodist Church. Now our regular participants also include Muslims, Buddhists, Catholics, African American Protestants, Quakers, Unitarian Universalists, members of the Ethical Culture Society and some who are unaffiliated but deeply interested in spiritual or religious matters.

The larger group calls itself the “Interfaith Connection.” About 20 people comprise our core planning group, and most of those meet monthly. About five Kol Ami members are consistently involved. We explore our relationships with one another and learn about each other’s faiths and practices. We also plan wonderful public events, usually collaborating with the Westchester Martin Luther King, Jr. Institute for Nonviolence. Annual on the Sunday of Martin Luther King weekend we have a celebratory concert that features widely diverse performers and audience – in 2011 at Good Counsel and in 2012 at Kol Ami. Our 4-week discussion series, usually twice a year, explores themes that allow us to grow and learn from each other.
