Kol Ami Cares empowers congregants to support one another in all of life’s moments

Community is at the heart of Congregation Kol Ami. Kol Ami Cares creates teams and opportunities to provide comfort, support, care and connection during periods of need, illness, recovery, and other life cycle events. Through visits, phone calls, care packages, and more we make sacred connections to each other in the hospital, at home, while giving a ride, or over the phone. We strengthen our community by supporting one another and providing opportunities for congregants of all ages and stages to perform the mitzvah of caring and showing up for one another.

Blessing Bags

Whether a new baby, new home, bereavement, or illness, the Blessing Bags Team will deliver a “thinking of you” bag with appropriate items and greetings.

Outreach

Along with the clergy, we can provide visits or calls for members who are in a local hospital and/or homebound who would benefit from increased connection.

Transportation

We can coordinate rides for members who need transportation to Kol Ami for Friday night services, Saturday morning Torah study, other Kol Ami events, doctors and treatment visits.

Meal Delivery

We can provide meals to families in need due to illness or other acute circumstances.

Shiva & Bereavement

In partnership with Kol Ami professionals, Kol Ami Cares can contact bereaved families to offer assistance in setting up the home for Shiva upon return from the cemetery, as well as calling periodically throughout the first year of mourning. In addition, members of the Shiva Leader Group will be trained to lead Shiva services as necessary. Please contact Rabbi Fisher directly if you would like to volunteer to be a Shiva service leader.
