Shir Chadash • A New Song
Contemporary Jewish Song Lyrics
Wednesdays 7:00-8:15pm

Join us as we explore the creativity, uplift, healing, and joy of contemporary Jewish song lyrics. We’ll engage with greats of our era — from Bob Dylan to Meir Ariel, the Israeli Dylan, and from Regina Spektor’s Soviet-born, New York-raised ingenuity to the Sephardi-roote spirituality of Ishay Ribo. Experience how these artists inherit Jewish tradition from throughout time, and give it twists for our time. Come and listen together, share together, and be together.

Discussed On November 4th . . .

Today 25 years ago on the Western calendar, November 4, 1995 in Tel Aviv, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated. The Kol Ami community joins together in mourning this slain leader of Israel.
At our last session of the adult ed class “Shir Chadash – A New Song” with Rabbinic Intern Noah Lawrence, on Rabin’s 25th yahrtzeit on the Hebrew calendar, 12 Cheshvan, the class held a special session dedicated to Rabin’s memory and spirit as evoked in Israeli music.
