For The Kids Pre K - Grade 5

Move with Music – for 2 to 6 year olds

For 2’s & 3’s (with caregiver) Wednesdays, 3:45 – 4:30
For 3’s & 4’s (drop off) Wednesdays, 4:30 – 5:15
For 5’s & 6’s (drop off) Wednesdays, 5:15 -6:00

Move, sing, and explore in the Move with Music Class for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten children. This year-long class encourages development in focus, spatial awareness, gross motor, social, and improvisation skills as well as the ability to work with others. A great precursor to learning an instrument! (Max. 10 students)

Class Dates: Fall Session: 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16, 11/30, 12/7
Class Dates: Winter Session: 1/18, 1/25, 2/8, 2/15, 3/8, 3/15
Class Dates: Spring Session: 3/22, 3/29, 4/19, 4/26, 5/10, 5/17

Tuition: $225.00 for 6 Classes

Beginning Violin and Viola Class

For Pre-K and Kindergartners (Wednesdays, 3:45 – 4:30)

Introduce your child to the joys of playing the violin or viola. This class features group activities, musical games and provides individual attention in a nurturing environment. Parent or guardian should plan to attend with their child. (Max. 6 students)

For Elementary School Students (Wednesdays, 4:30 – 5:15)

Learn to play simple tunes on the violin or viola alongside your friends. This class also introduces music note reading and cultivates ensemble skills. Instruments are required. (instrument rental information available) (Max. 8 students)

Partner Lessons

Join your friend and play the violin or viola! This first experience in music lessons is a wonderful supplement to the larger group classes. Register for both and receive a discount.

Introduction to Chamber Music

(Scheduled by Ensemble)

Excite your young string player with the opportunity to play music with their peers. This 45 minute class introduces the art of playing chamber music in a nurturing environment. Students should be able to read notes and rhythms and perform at an advanced beginner level. Email Naomi Graf @ kolart@nykolami.org for more information.

For The Tweens & Teens

Viola Klub

(Tuesdays 6:30 – 7:30)

Specializing in Alto Clef, Viola Club includes solo and ensemble performances, music theory, ear training and more; all with the viola in hand. A significant amount of viola pride is fostered.

Cello Ensemble

(Tuesdays 6:30 – 7:30)

Explore all styles of music with your fellow cello friends. This class is designed for students who can play and read music at an intermediate level and above. Cellists will find this group very exciting and fun as they learn new music together. This class will culminate in a recital performance.

Chamber Music Classes

(Scheduled by Ensemble)

Small ensembles (either pre-formed or newly formed) benefit from coaching by professional musicians. Learn new repertoire and sharpen your ensemble skills. Groups may participate in workshops and recitals throughout the year.
