ArtSmart: Famous Art & Fabulous Music w/Patti Hupp

This is a combo class of art & music. Each session we’ll recreate a famous work of art using household items, then sing and dance our sillies out with Miss Patti on the guitar & ukulele! Parent participation is required. (Max. 8 students)

Dalcroze Eurythmics w/ Yuki Hiruma-Charlesworth

This music program for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten children is based on Dalcroze Eurhythmics founded by Emile Jacques-Dalcroze, a Swiss musician and educator. Children exercise and experience games which involve listening, singing, moving and improvisation. They also play an assortment of percussion instruments.The music classes encourage development in focus, spatial awareness, gross motor, social, and improvisation skills as well as the ability to work with others. (Max. 8 students)

Where the Wild Things Are: Personal Toy Theater w/Sam Hack

Toy Theaters were traditionally made from paper and designed to be created and performed in Victorian living rooms, making them ideal for the homebound artist.  
Join puppeteer Sam Hack in making your own toy theater inspired by Jewish Author Maurice Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are.  Using materials such as boxes, paper and tape, we will create personal theaters and puppets each based on each students own ideas. What’s your wild place and who will you meet there?

This class uses Dalcroze Eurhythmics founded by Emile Jacques-Dalcroze to learn music theory, movement, ear training, note reading , sight singing, and dictation. Music theory elements include beat, rhythm, meter, phrase, dynamics, tempo, and articulation.

This is a class designed to fill-in-the-gaps on reading music: basic note reading will be reviewed along with rhythmic patterns, time signatures, key signatures, and key relationships. The class will also include tips on effective sight-reading.

Scene Study, Monologues w/ Ellen Flaks

Master a scripted monologue to use in auditions or just to learn how to break it down into beats and perform for the group.  In addition, we will work on scripted scenes as well as Reader’s Theater.  Basic memorization needed for monologue and scene work.  Scripts will be provided.
